There’s a lot going on in Eastern NC this time of year. We’ve compiled a list of a few events you can plan to attend, this weekend!
1. Wilmington’s Azalea Festival
is finally back again, with a variety of events to choose from. Although a few activities at the Azalea Festival already started this week, there are plenty more to choose from, including the parade, which kicks-off on April 14th at 9:30 A.M. The waterfront street fair starts on April 13th if you are looking for knick-knacks, art and novelty items to buy, (Mother’s Day is approaching,) but if you aren’t interested in buying, kick back and listen to your favorite ‘local and regional’ performers at The Wilmington Grill Music Stage where entry is free. While it’s completely impossible to list everything that the Azalea Festival has to offer, simply visit the site and choose which attraction you would most like to enjoy this weekend! 2. Ham Jam At The Farm
Spare a 15 minute drive to get to Hubert, and visit the 1st annual Ham Jam At The Farm event! This event says it will feature BBQ and food trucks, as well as bounce houses, hayrides, face painting and even tiny houses to view! Not only will this event pose to entertain on Friday, but is open to the public on Saturday as well! See more details about Ham Jam At The Farm at this link.
3. Summertime Splash Carnival
If you would rather do something right here in Jacksonville, head down to the 2nd Annual A & B Summertime Splash Carnival this Saturday! This event promises water-slides, bounce-houses, and a water balloon fight for the kids! 4. Pirate Fest
“Shiver me timbers!” This is the 12th year of the annual Pirate Fest in Greenville, North Carolina! Each year, your favorite friendly pirates emerge from their ships and encampments, to common the streets for a good time! This event features pirate-themed everything, including sword-fights, backdrops and souvenirs; fun for the kids, and a beer & wine garden, fun for the adults! More information here.
5. Farmer’s Market
It’s that time of year again! The Jacksonville Farmer’s Market is reopening this weekend, to provide you with your weekly dosage of fresh, local produce. What better way to kick-off your Saturday, than by supporting your local farmer’s and small businesses! Questions? Just a short drive down to Swansboro, Touch-A-Truck is happening this weekend, on April 14th at the Swansboro Recreation Center. This is a unique event, which lets your curious children touch, observe and climb into a fire-truck, ambulance and many other varieties of trucks! This event takes place at Municipal Park.
